PSD Mock-Up Guide

Just follow these instructions and your mock-up will be complete in no time :)

Step 1:
Open the Photoshop (PSD) file and double-click on the left box on the smart object layer entitled Add Your Design.

This will open up an additional Photoshop window with a placeholder image.

Step 2:
Hide the placeholder image by pressing the eye icon next to that layer or delete it by selecting the layer and clicking on the bin icon in the bottom right corner.

Step 3:
Drag and drop your artwork onto the blank artwork area.

If you would like to resize or reposition your artwork, click on Edit > Free Transform.

To resize it, click and drag the edges in/out.
To reposition it, click in the middle of the image and drag it to move your artwork around.

Step 4:
When you are happy with your design, save your work by clicking File > Save. This will update the mock-up with your artwork.

Step 5:
Return to the mock-up and your beautiful artwork will be displayed.

If you need to make any adjustments, simply double-click on the smart object, edit your artwork in the new window and then save it to update the mock-up.

Step 6:
Once you are happy with the way it looks, save the mock-up by clicking File > Save As.

You can then export it as your chosen file type e.g. JPEG, PNG, etc. By clicking File > Export.

Step 7:
Congratulate yourself for finishing your mock-up :)

Changing Colours

Some mock-ups offer further customisation by allowing you to change the colours of different elements. For example, a tote bag mock-up may also allow you to change the bag handle colour.

To change a colour, double-click on the coloured box next to the layer entitled Change [Object] Colour. Then choose a colour that compliments your design and press Ok to update the mock-up with the new colour.

Overlapping Objects

If your mock-up has an overlapping object, no additional action is required.

Simply place your artwork in the smart object layer as usual as we use masks to ensure your design fits perfectly in the space.
