Overlapping Objects

If your mock-up has an overlapping object, you may need to take additional action depending on the file type you are using.

For ease of use, we suggest that you use our PNG mock-up instead of the JPEG option when there are overlapping objects present.

JPEG Users
Additional action is required.

Position and resize your artwork as usual but then use an eraser tool to remove any areas of your artwork that cover the overlapping object.

Please note To remove overlapping areas in Canva requires a Canva Pro tool. If you do not have a Canva Pro subscription, we suggest using the PNG file instead of the JPEG file.

In Canva, select your artwork and click Edit Image > Background Remover > Eraser. Then draw over the areas of overlap to remove them.

PNG Users
No additional action is required.

Place your artwork under the transparent area of the mock-up like normal as this area has been cut out with the overlapping object in mind.

Please note For the most professional result, we suggest using Photoshop as its features allow your artwork to look more natural in the setting than Canva currently allows.

JPEG or PNG?

For some mock-ups, we include both JPEG and PNG options. This is particularly the case for wall art mock-ups.

Our PNG mock-ups have transparent areas that allow your artwork to show through when it is placed underneath. This allows your artwork to fill the space accurately, without any need to use an eraser tool, and often results in the mock-up looking more realistic.

For this reason, we suggest choosing the PNG option if you cannot use Photoshop.

JPEG Only Mock-Ups

If your mock-up doesnt come with a PNG option, do not be alarmed.

For mock-ups featuring opaque objects such as t-shirts or tote bags, JPEGs are more suitable as there is no need for a transparent area.
